Packaging
The L’Oreal Magique Kajal comes in an attractive black and pink retractable pencil form packaging. I love the metallic pink embossing on it which gives it quite a bit of pizzazz. Since it is retractable you do not have to sharpen it avoiding product wastage. I really love the look of it and I believe it looks the most attractive out of all the kajals available out there.
Texture & Pigmentation
LOreal Kajal Magique has a soft and creamy texture. It does not tug during application and neither is it too soft to break. It is not the blackest of blacks but its equally pigmented as Maybelline’s Colossal or Lakme’s Eyeconic Kajal. L’oreal’s Kajal Magique easily shows up on my lids in a couple of swipes but does not give the intense pigmentation on my waterline which is a bit of downer. I have to swipe it multiple times on my waterline for it to show up properly.
Staying Power
It totally makes up in the wear time for what it lacks in the intensity. Once the kajal sets it becomes completely smudgeproof . It lasts on my waterline for more than 4 hours after which it starts losing intensity but does not smudge even though I have extremely watery eyes!
As claimed it is actually waterproof and I couldn’t remove completely it despite rubbing it under running water. I believe this should last on oily lids and will not slide as much as the Lakme Eyeconic Kohl does on my eyes. For reference I don’t have oily lids and I have tested this in winters so I will update if I witness a difference in summers. However, I still feel girls with oily lids might become quite fond of it.
It certainly does not last the 12 hour claim but the kajal stays put for about 8-9 hours on my lids which is commendable!! I just really which this was more of an intense black and we would’ve had an absolute winner.
Worth it?
This is the priciest kajal in the budget category so should you go for it over Lakme & Maybelline? Well I’m still on the fence over this. I do like my kajals to be the blackest of blacks but I detest it when they smudge so badly on my watery eyes. If your main criteria is an intense black kohl then I say skip this otherwise if you need a decently pigmented,smudge-proof and waterproof kajal then L’Oreal Kajal Magique can be a good option for you!

Cons
1) Not the blackest of blacks in a single swipe

HBM Rating
HBM Recommendation : L’Oreal Kajal Magique is a decently pigmented kohl which is smudgeproof and does not budge for a long time. If you have oily lids and do not mind the ‘not sooo black’ color of the kohl then its a worth a try! Skip it if you like your kohls to be intensely black!
