While my love for NYX Butter Glosses is well known but my tryst with NYX started with its famous powder blushes. Most of the blushes are quite expensive in India so my search led to NYX while searching for affordable blushes in India. Sadly, it’s quite over priced in India so I did the next best thing, order it online fro Blanc 2 Noir. Today, I shall be reviewing & swatching NYX Desert Rose Blush which is one of the most universally flattering blushes and is also a famous dupe of MAC Desert Rose.

Packaging
NYX Blushes are packaged in a black plastic casing with a see through lid. You can easily identify a particular shade due to the lid but the blushes do not come with any mirror or brush hence touch-ups can be a bit difficult with this. The packaging feels a bit flimsy, I wouldn’t say its not travel friendly as I’ve taken it on my trips many a times but this is definitely prone to breakage if you drop it.

Shade
The NYX Desert Rose Blush is a beautiful rosy pink with a slight blue undertone. It has very fine shimmer which isn’t that noticeable but instead lends a subtle glow to the cheeks. The shade is perfect for the “just flushed look” and depending on the amount you apply, looks quite natural. Desert Rose will suit all complexion be it light, medium or dusky and is appropriate for both day and night.

This is said to be a MAC Desert Rose Blush Dupe and no points to NYX for the creativeness in naming it 😀 I have swatched MAC Desert Rose at the store and I almost ended up buying it before I realized I have this NYX beauty at home.

Texture
NYX Powder Blush has a soft and smooth texture and is quite finely milled. These can be a wee bit chalky due to the soft texture and kick up alot of product when you swirl the blush in the pan. Thats how NYX blushes are, soft & silky but a little powdery. Despite being a powder blush, it does not settle down into pores or looks patchy.

Pigmentation
NYX Powder Blush Desert Rose is very well pigmented though not highly so that you easily end up looking like a clown. A single swipe should be enough for those natural & glowing cheeks on fair & light skinned beauties. Those with medium to dusky complexion can easily build it up for the color to show up properly on them. Very pleased with the pigmentation, this is exactly how I like my blushes to be!

Staying Power
Being a powder blush, this stays put for about with 5-6 hours in winters and a little less in summers. With a good base or primer underneath, the staying power can easily be increased. The wear time is pretty impressive for a blush that costs just $6, no? Wish Indian brands start coming out with such great quality products at affordable price tags.

Availability & Price
NYX blushes aren’t easily available in India. I do recall Flipkart & Nykaa selling them but mostly the good shades are always OOS. You can easily buy it from Sephora however Rs 650 for something that costs $6 is a little too high. My suggestion? Wait for the sales and buy them off international websites like Cherryculture or B2N and save up on the shipping!
