I Said Yes to Colour! How To Colour Hair At Home/Tutorial
How to Color hair at home – Step By Step Tutorial
Hello Everyone,
I had been planning to colour my hair for a long time and I finally decided to Say Yes to Colour with L’Oreal Casting Crème Gloss as its considered to be one of the best and safest hair colours available in India. The formula is ammonia free and claims to provide gloss and shine to the hair! I got the shade Iced Chocolate which is a dark brown hair color with a slight plum hue. The L’Oreal Casting Crème Gloss comes in an attractive pink and white box which contains a tube of crème colourant, a bottle of developer cream, a Nutri Shine Conditioner and a pair of gloves.
This is a colour at home kit and is absolutely fuss free. All you have to do is add the crème colourant to the developer cream bottle and shake well. Next, you pierce the tip and apply it directly to your hair. Unlike what most believe, I was able to do it myself at home while still getting the salon finish. Simple and convenient!
I strongly recommend doing a skin allergy test on a small section of hair if you are colouring your hair for the first time.
I’m enlisting the steps I followed while colouring my hair. You can also watch this video to know more.
Step 1
I wet my hair (not washed) before colouring my hair as mentioned in the leaflet which helps the colour work well into the hair and ensures even coverage.
Step 2
Next, I divided my hair into 4 portions so that the colour could be applied all over.
Step 3
Mixed the crème colourant and the developer cream in a bowl. Make sure you use the gloves provided so as to avoid staining your hands in the process.
Step 4
Applied the hair colour to each portion and left it on for 20 minutes. What I loved the most was that the colour had a sweet fruity scent rather than an acrid chemical smell which we usually associate with hair colours. It did not irritate my nose at all and smelled really pleasant
Step 5
Washed it off after 20 minutes and followed it up with the Nutri Shine Conditioner provided in the box. My hair smells ah-mazing BTW!
Tips: To avoid staining your ears and neck apply a bit of petroleum jelly or use a toner to remove it. Use an old towel or shirt while colouring your hair as you’ll anyway have to get rid of it later due to the colour stains.
I have dark black hair and Iced Chocolate looks extremely natural on me. It has definitely added a lot of shine and luster to my hair and the brown is more prominent when sunlight hits it! My opinion over hair colours has changed quite a bit as instead of feeling dry or rough, my hair feels quite soft and bouncy! I am so happy with results and definitely urge everyone to say yes to colour and enjoy the difference it would make to your hair!
