Blame it on the recent launches by Kylie Cosmetics or Jeffree Star, I’ve been gravitating a lot towards matte lip colors lately despite having prune like dry lips. More so with nudes. Yeah, I think it’s definitely the Kylie effect. Well not a lot of brands in India make good matte liquid lipsticks (barring Chambor & Colorbar) so when Revlon launched their Ultra HD Matte Lipcolors in India a couple of months back, I got too excited. The range has a beautiful variety of bright and peppy shades but I obviously only wanted the nude- 630 Seduction. Read on for the detailed review and swatches.

Packaging
The Revlon HD Matte Lip colors are packaged in a frosted oval packaging with a silver toned cap. The packaging is gorgeous and it instantly attracted me. You can easily identify a particular shade due to the translucent tube and they come with a doe foot applicator. I feel like owning the entire collection just so that I can showcase them on my dresser.

Texture
Now if you were expecting a proper matte liquid lipstick then you will be left disappointed. That said, the texture is actually very beautiful. It has a plush creamy texture which applies like a dream and settles into a satin finish. It is a gel formula provides a slight sheen to the lips. The lip color is very comfortable to wear and feels quite hydrating. I love the fact that it does not settle into lip lines and you can always make the finish more matte by blotting it with a tissue. The Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolors are more of a hybrid between a lip gloss and liquid lipsticks.

Shade
Revlon Seduction Ultra Matte Lipcolor is a gorgeous peachy-pinky nude. Most nude lip colors are either too pale, too brown, too peachy or too pink. Yeah the struggle of finding the perfect nude color is real. This one hit the bulls eye for me. It has just the right undertone and will flatter pale to medium complexion beautifully. It looks a bit pale in the lip swatch below but the arm swatch is pretty close to the actual shade. It is absolutely the most perfect shade to pair with bold smokey eyes!

Pigmentation & Staying Power
The Revlon Seduction Lip Color despite being a nude color provides a great color pay off. I only need a swipe or 2 to hide moderate lip pigmentation and I do not feel the need to line my lips with a lip liner first. As for staying power, it stays put for about 3-4 hours depending on the amount I eat or drink. For a nude color, the staying power is good but for the price, I expected much better. I think the darker shades in the range will last much longer.

I have 2 issues with this range- Firstly the name. It’s supposed to be “ultra matte” hence it can be quite deceiving since the formula is semi matte at best. I would’ve rated it much higher had they not included the word matte in it. Secondly, the price! Good lord, this is available at almost half the price in the west!  We’re supposed to be a third world country yet we end up paying so much more be it with Revlon, L’Oreal or even Sephora brands 😐

1) A beautiful nude color perfect for pale to medium skin tone.
2) Luscious formula which is creamy and comfortable
3) Does not settle into lip lines and is quite hydrating
