Its so good to see some new launches in the base makeup category as recently L’Oreal Paris come out with this 3 in 1 Mat Magique Powder Compact which claims to prime, perfect imperfections and provides sun protection. Usually, L’Oreal launches are priced a little on the higher side but surprisingly these matte transforming powders are very well priced. Packaging
The L’Oreal Paris Mat Magique Compact comes is packaged in a beautiful pink cardboard box. The compact itself is round in shape with a clear plastic lid. It has two compartments, one with the powder and the other houses the puff and a good sized mirror. I would’ve preferred the mirror to be on the lid with the powder as it would’ve eased touch up but nevertheless the packaging is very classy, pretty and attractive. The puff is good enough for a touch up or 2 but not exactly of great quality so I prefer applying the product with a powder brush.

Texture
L’Oreal Mat Magique Transforming Powder has a finely milled and silky texture. Unlike most compacts, this does not feel dry and has an almost satin like finish which applies so well onto the skin. Usually, compacts tend to make my face look a bit dry and too matte but this just blends perfectly into the skin and makes my skin look smoother.

Unlike other affordable compact powders I’ve tried, the L’Oreal Compact Powder does not settle down into fine lines and gives a soft matte but not a flat finish.

Shades
There are 5 shades launched in the L’Oreal Paris Mat Magique All In One Transforming Powder Range. All the shades have a strong yellow undertone which is bound to suit majority of the Indian women. However, if you have a pink or a neutral undertone then you will be left a disappointed. N2 & G2 are the lightest shades suitable for pale to fair complexion.

G1 is quite similar to G2 and will suit fair girls quite well. Those with a fair- medium complexion can opt for N6 while G7 will suit those which are NC 42 and above. I know, alot of numbers but pls check the last swatch pic for reference. The shade selection is quite decent but I would’ve liked to see another darker shade for the dusky beauties.

Coverage
The L’Oreal Mat Magique Transforming Powders provide a sheer to buildable coverage. They work well as setting powders but the coverage can be built up which is pretty good for an everyday no makeup look when you don’t want to look too made up. These days, I only use some concealer under my eyes and apply the L’Oreal Mat Magique in G1 as a base and I’m good to go. Its really good for everyday use and I’ve been using it alot since the day I got these.

Staying Power
Now coming to its claim of keeping the skin shine free all day. Well it does keep the oil at bay for say 3-4 hours and I start noticing some shine on my T zone after that. It stays put for a good 4-5 hours before I feel the need for a touch up. Not exactly the best compact if you have super oily skin but I’m pretty happy with it considering the price and I do not mind touching up my base every 5 hours or so 🙂

The L’Oreal Paris Mat Magique All In One Transforming Powder smoothens the skin, gives good coverage for everyday wear and with SPF 35 its perfect for summers. The powder keeps the face shine free for a good 4-5 hours, though not all day as claimed. I love the soft matte finish it provides and totally recommend it!
