Alaya Spa + Salon Review
Alaya Spa + Salon Review: Traditional Tibetan Kunye
Hey Girls,
My monthly spa visits have sort of become a ritual now so when I was invited by Alaya Spa & Salon I decided to give them a visit this month. Alaya is located at Anupam Complex, Saket and the front desk was very helpful in giving me the exact directions. Upon entering the premises I was welcomed by Burmese teak wood interiors and calming music in the background which was a stark change(and a very welcoming one at that) from the stressful hustle and bustle of Delhi. I felt transported to another world altogether and looked forward to a relaxing massage session.
I tried Alaya’s Signature Massage Therapy which is the Traditional Tibetan Kunye. I changed into a pair of rubber slippers and was escorted to their first floor where the massage therapies are done. It has 5 floors( 2 are couple rooms and the other 3 are for individual therapies) which are well equipped with attached steam baths that were quite spacious. I’ve went to quite a few spas where the bathrooms were tiny and made me feel claustrophobic so I was quite happy with spacious bathroom at Alaya.
My masseuse was very soft spoken and gave me a robe and disposable underwear to change into. She kept checking with me about the pressure and focused on my neck and shoulders after I had told her it felt quite sore. She started off with an oil massage from my neck, shoulders, back, legs, arms and then the tummy. A traditional Kunye involves ChiPa which is a cleansing technique. She used a natural sugar scrub to absorb the oil from the body and gradually moved on to a very rejuvenating head massage. It has been believed that KuNye aids in longevity by clearing and sharpening the sensory organs while supporting the function of the internal organs.
I later took a steam bath and was asked to head downstairs to the salon for a complimentary hair wash and blow dry. I was given a refreshing barley tea that tasted delicious. The picture you see below is without any makeup barring a lipgloss and you can clearly see the glow after the therapy. Ignore my darkcircles BTW.
At the salon, I met Mr. Gyurme Tenzing, Director of Alaya Spa & Salon who told me about their organic approach therefore their interiors are made up of wood and use Terri cotton towels and 100% natural spa products & essential oils. He stressed on customer satisfaction being their main priority which impressed me alot. They offer the best of services and products including Repechage Facials which was voted the ‘Best Facial Of The Century’ By Cosmo, UK along with Moroccan Oil Hair Treatments and TIGI products. I had been yearning to try a few Bed Head by TIGI products and they are one of the few authorized retailers in Delhi so you can visit their salon incase you’re interested in them.
I loved the soft curls given to me by their hair stylist which many of you have praised in my latest outfit here. I cannot tell you the number of compliments I have gotten on my hair and I’m definitely visiting Alaya the next time I need my hair done up for a party or an event! They only hire knowledgeable and expert professionals for all their services so you are bound to have a very satisfying and enjoyable experience.
The Alaya Traditional Tibetan Kunye costs Rs 2200 for one hour and it was one of the best massages I’ve had till date. I felt relaxed, rejuvenated and extremely pampered by the courteous staff! The luxurious and relaxing interiors along with the professional and high quality services make Alaya one of the best Spa & Salons in Delhi.
