Over the past few months, I’ve become very choosy with the products I use and feature on HBM primarily because I don’t want to review something I don’t love a 100%. Avene, is one brand however that I end up using without worrying about it not suiting or irritating my skin as their products are specifically formulated for sensitive skin. I have been using Avene skincare for more than an year now and its one brand that I keep coming back to. I recently added their Cicalfate Repair Cream to my kitty and here is what I think about it.

Avene Cicalfate Repair Cream Review: A must have for sensitive & acne prone skin!
The Avene Cicalfate Cream comes in a metal tube like those medicated creams and has a small screw on cap. The opening has a seal and the packaging is clean, convenient and easy to use. It is a repair cream aimed at sensitive or irritated skin. The reason why it took me so long to review it is because I didn’t get the chance to use it as for the most part my skin behaves quite well.

As many of you know, I am undergoing laser hair removal and in my last sitting, the power was a bit too high and my skin got inflamed and was burning a bit too badly once I got home. I was really uncomfortable and unluckily for me I was unable to get the prescribed cream to soothe it as I was home alone. Thats when my mind drifted to the Avene Cicalfate Cream and I decided to give this a go.

The topical cream is white in color and has a very thick creamy texture. It is quite hydrating and needs some effort to spread and blend. It contains the Avene Spring Water which I have previously loved and it soothes my skin in an instant. After applying the cream all over my legs, it efficiently combated the dryness caused by the laser and relaxed my skin a bit but not completely.
Best Cream For Sensitive & Irritated Skin: Avene Cicalfate
The burning and redness did reduce after a few hours and it felt better. Since the cream worked pretty well for me I continued using it for the next 2-3 days and my skin healed well. You should’ve seen the state of my legs, all red and burning, scared me to bits but its back to its normal state and I’ve read this is pretty common if you undergo such a treatment. I still feel a bit of dryness on my thighs so I’ve started using the Avene Cicalfate Restorative Cream at night.

I once read that someone called this a band aid in a tube and it actually is. It can be used to treat irritated skin, especially after a surgery as it has anti bacterial properties, or to soothe down your skin after popping a zit (yeah, we all end up doing that once in awhile) , flaky skin or even cuts and burns. Its not exactly a cosmetic product but more of a medicated cream.
I do find the Avene Cicalfate Repair Cream a bit too heavy for the face so I wouldn’t necessarily wear it during the day. I prefer it more as a spot application and the consistency is just perfect for the body. This even claims to heal wounds, oh how I wish my mom had this everytime I used to bruise my knees in my childhood!

If you have sensitive skin, acne prone skin or have an issue with dryness and flakiness especially in the coming winters, then you must add this to your kitty. The price is a bit high for the quantity but you really need the smallest amount and one tube will last you a good amount of time.

It has a thick emollient texture which combats dryness and flaky skin and calms down irritated skin well. Definitely a must have in your medical kit.
