Products Not Tested on Animals: Cruelty Free Brands!
Do you know that the makeup and cosmetics we end up using on a daily basis might have involved killing or inflicting pain on animals? Quite a large amount of companies still test their products on animals and its high time we put an end to it. If you’ve been thinking of switching to cruelty free brands and products then this sure is a great time as more and more brands are becoming eco-friendly. Hence, making it easier to switch to animal friendly alternatives. Today we round up the top animal cruelty brands when it comes to makeup, skincare, haircare, drugstore and Indian cruelty free brands!
We have divided the list as per cruelty free high-mid end makeup brands, cruelty free drugstore makeup brands, skincare & hair care brands as well cruelty free brands in India.
Its easier to switch to makeup not tested on animals when it comes to the premium range as many of the new brands do not support animal testing. Here are the most popular cruelty free makeup brands.
Isn’t it surprising that so many drusgtore brands are cruelty free yet we see a large number of brands costing far more still test on animals. Here is the list of popular drugstore and affordable cruelty free cosmetics.
Its a bit tough finding cruelty free alternatives when it comes to haircare and skincare. Though there are widely available in the west but finding cruelty free brands available internationally isn’t as easy. We have only stuck to the popular skincare and haircare brands for this list.
Since there isn’t a regulation or any Indian specific testing methods for cruelty free brands we have mainly relied on PETA’s cruelty free list and their websites/representatives for compiling the list of Cruelty Free Brands in India.
Not a skincare or haircare brand however Chambor is also a cruelty free and vegan brand which we felt was worth mentioning.
Hope this list helps you in switching to products not tested on animals. If there are any popular vegan or cruelty free brands that we missed, do let us know below!
Disclaimer: Some of the above mentioned brands do belong to companies that test on animals. Also, all of these are not vegan makeup brands. The mentioned brands do not test on animals but might contain animal bi- products. The brands mentioned are either Leaping Bunny certified, PETA certified or pledge to be cruelty free.

There are very few brands in Indian list and mostly for skincare and not cosmetics. That is disheartening.
Thats true plus alot of the Indian cosmetic brands weren't very forthcoming with their policies when we contacted them.
Have you turned cruelty free???
No, being a beauty blogger that would probably be really tough.
Cannot ignore the Estee Lauder brands
Just curious cuz in India one doesn't have much options in terms of the number of brands availability
Very true.
Lisha, I guess you missed Plum if I am not wrong...
I did check them out but they did not mention that they are cruelty free.
have reached out to them on Twitter and will update the list accordingly :)
Cool (y)... Great work by the way Lisha... Appreciate :)
Thanks love!
I didn't know there were so many cruelty free brands. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, switching to cruelty free brands is much more easier now!
I am all for cruelty free brands. Thanks for this amazing compilation
Glad u liked it :)
KUDOS to companies that don't torture innocent animals or use animal products in their formulas! BTW, the Dollar Tree and other similar stores carry cruelty-free brands like E.L.F., Wet n Wild, Milani, ColorPop, and L.A. Colors at their stores. Products vary, but we're talking $1 makeup, Folks! This offers us a chance to try various brands/products without breaking the piggy bank! Life is good!
Also beware of some companies who are cruelty-free, but are owned by corporations who do test on animals such as Clorox, Estee Lauder, and L'Oreal.
Hi this is a great blog,i did'nt realise there where so many Companys that are cruelty free but could i mention a company that just launched last oct 'Maelle Beauty as all there products are cruelty free, PETA approved and have The Leaping Bunny Logo, they are also SLS free & Paraben free, our backoffice is on maintenece mode atm but when we are back up in running i could send you some products as i would love to hear your review :)
There are very few cruelty free brands in India. Do anyone have idea about Himalaya Herbals and Lotus? Are they cruelty free. They do mention they are cruelty free, but are they owned by corporation that test on animals? Thanks.
