Imagine my surprise when I saw a tropical yellow box lying on my desk a few days back. Besides tempting me to take a vacation and just lay in a hammock all day, it made me very excited to check what’s inside as it was the May Envy Box. With a box that looks this good, the products had to be very promising And this time, I surely wasn’t disappointed. The May Envy Box 2016 contains 4 deluxe to full sized samples ranging from hair, skin and lips. The box also comes with a discount card for the Envy Box Jewelery Subscription Box and a Kiehl’s skin consultation voucher. I’ve been seeing the brand promote the consultation a lot but as far as I know, Kiehl’s always provides a free skin consultation to walk-ins at the store and even provides samples to try out. Anyhoo, lets have a closer look at the products I received.

Island Kiss Lip Moisturizer: Rs 499 for 14gms
This is one the newest brands on the block which offers lip balms of 3 different variants. Priced on the higher side, it is made of kokum butter and organic almond oil. The consistency is something I’ve never tried before in a lip balm. It has a liquid-y jelly like texture which applies easily and provides the most gorgeous lip stain! It hydrates well and the lip stain stays on and on. I’m more of a bare faced and a lip balm kinda girl for the gym but I hate it when my tinted lip balm wears off in some time while working out. With the Island Kiss Lip Moisturizer, my lips stay moisturized and naturally tinted throughout my workout.

Gulnare Seaflo Face Wash: Rs 350 for 120 ml
This is the first time I’ve heard of the brand but I was excited to receive its full sized product in the Envy Box.  The face wash consists of cucumber, wheatgerm and grape seed oil which claims to calm and soothe the skin. This is the perfect fit for the tropical beauty box as the aqua scent totally reminds of the beach. Quite excited to give this a try.

Votre Botanical Toning Mist: Rs 800 for 100ml
I received a generous 50 ml sample of this which is perfect for carrying in my handbag. I have always heard great things about the brand and wanted to give their products a try for the longest time. A facial toning mist is exactly what I needed this summers and it claims to maintain the skin’s natural PH balance. Will let you know my thoughts on this soon.

Roots & Above Lemon Essential Oil: Rs 375 for 50ml
Even though this full sized sample was properly bubble wrapped, it managed to spill in my box. That said, the claims mentioned on the Envy Box card kind of turned me off a bit. It sounded like a pushy salesman trying too hard to sell an average product. I’m not a huge fan of citrus scents but it’s supposed to be really good for the skin, hair and teeth. I might just give it a try one of these days.

With Tropical Beauty as the theme, the products included in the May Envy Box perfectly fit the bill. I’m very happy with the sizes and the variety of products though none of them is a luxury brand. Like I mentioned previously, My Envy Box has started deviating from the ‘luxury beauty box” tag. It could be because subscribers prefer full sized products over smaller luxury samples but nonetheless I thought it was worth mentioning.
