Before we move on to the easy home remedies for dry hair, it imperative that we find out what leads to dry hair & scalp. Dry hair and scalp can be caused by a number of factors which can vary from medical conditions to environmental factors. Following are some of the major causes of dry hair.

You can use various home remedies to get rid of dry hair and irritated scalp. Of course, regular visits to the salon for deep conditioning massages & hair spas might help. However, it can be quite costly and ultimately takes a toll on your pocket. Therefore, it makes sense to use home remedies that are neither costly nor produces adverse effects since it all natural and does not use any harsh chemicals.
Vinegar
Vinegar can be used to treat dry scalp and hair. It is easily available in most households and you can combine it with honey and apply to the scalp for 15 mins before shampooing your hair to combat dryness. Another great way to use vinegar is to rinse your hair with it once or twice a week. This is one of the easiest home remedies for dry hair that works like a charm!
PS: Apple Cider Vinegar is the best for a rinse but since its not easily available in India, you can very well do with any fruit vinegar.
Avocado
Avocado is not only good for the skin, but it can also be used to nourish your scalp. It is rich with vitamins D, A and E. The fruit is also replete with essential minerals like magnesium, iron and potassium & it hydrates the scalp well and makes the hair stronger. Try this easy homemade mask for dry hair made up of 1 avocado, 2 tsps of coconut oil and 1 egg white. Leave this on your hair for 30 minutes and wash off. Try this once a week and you will find that your hair has become silkier and manageable.
Honey And Lemon Juice
A blend of these two ingredients, found in most kitchens can work wonders for dry scalp and hair. Honey has deep moisturizing properties while lemon cleanses the scalp of build up & residue. Depending on the length & thickness of your hair, mix some honey with the juice of a half freshly squeezed lemon. Apply this to the scalp & hair and leave it on for 20 mins. Try this natural home remedy for dry hair every week and say hello to silky smooth hair after a few uses.

Olive Oil
Olive oil is enriched with antioxidants and vitamin E and is also the best hair oil for dry scalp & hair. It can be used to make nourishing hot oil pack to combat scalp dryness & add moisture as well as bounce to the hair. You can mix olive oil with either coconut or jojoba oil and warm it up lightly. Apply the mix on scalp and massage gently. Wrap your head in a warm towel and leave it for some time before shampooing it off. This can be done once or twice a week.
Eggs
Eggs are loved by people who want an easy source of protein in their diet, but they can also be good for undernourished and dry hair as well. If the smell of egg puts you off, mix it with honey and olive oil. This will even nourish the scalp better. Whip up a frothy mixture with these ingredients and then gently massage it on hair with fingers. Keep the mixture on hair for an hour and rinse off with a mild shampoo and plenty of water. Try this once or twice a for shining & silky hair.

i've tried the vinegar for frizzy hair but it makes my hair smell weird. but it still does work to an extent.
