Lakme recently added a few more products to their Illuminating Collection including 2 new Absolute Eyeliners, limited edition Sabyasachi packaged Illuminating Shimmer Bricks, Sun Kissed Bronzer and an Illuminating Foundation which I’ve been testing out for the past few weeks. With the cold finally settling down in North India, the launch of the dewy foundation was perfectly timed. Read on to know if this is worth buying or not.

Packaging
The new Lakme Absolute Foundation is packaged in a grey packaging which is encased in plastic. Since the bottle is opaque you cannot tell when you’ll run out of the foundation. However, despite being somewhat of an affordable foundation, it comes with a pump packaging which eases mess free application. The packaging is similar to the White Intense Skin Cover Foundation and is travel friendly.

Texture & Finish
The Lakme Absolute Illuminating Foundation has a medium consistency which applies easily. It feels a bit thick if blended with fingers and I personally find that it works the best with a damp sponge like a beautyblender or Real Technique Complexion Sponge. Even though it claims to be illuminating, the foundation is not very hydrating and settles into a satin finish making it perfect for both dry skin and oily skin. Someone with dry skin will definitely need to prep their skin well.

The new Lakme foundation has very fine gold shimmer which is visible in the swatch but not when applied on the face. It reflects light and adds a glow which perks up the complexion. The foundation will work the best for evening and night time as the shimmer might be a bit visible during the day. That said, the shimmer is not chunky or gritty.

Shades
The Lakme Absolute Illuminating Foundation for Dry to Oily skin is available in only 4 shades which is disappointing. It’s high time that Indian brands start catering to the deeper complexions. The range has 3 strong yellow undertone based shades and one with a pink undertone for pale beauties. Unlike their White Intense range, the foundation does not oxidize and somehow looks a bit paler once applied.

I have the Lakme Foundation in 03 Beige Glimmer which I initially felt will be too dark for me. It is a beige color with a more peachy undertone. Surprisingly it suits my complexion really well though it is a hint darker than my skintone. I think Beige Glimmer will be perfect for fair-medium skintone or those who are NC 37-40 in MAC

Coverage & Staying Power
The Lakme Illuminating Foundation has light to buildable coverage. It evens out the complexion but will not cover acne marks, blemishes or dark circles. It’s definitely not the foundation for someone with problematic skin. It’s a good option for those who want to even out their skin a bit and get a nice healthy glow. It has a staying power of about 5-6 hours if set with powder.
