Remember how unimpressed I was by the L’Oreal Magic Nude Foundations when I swatched them awhile back? If not, then you must visit the post here not just for all the swatches of the range but the my initial impression as well. Well with sooo many bloggers raving about it I couldn’t help but try the L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation myself to see if it was over hyped or not. Read on to know if I still disliked it or if it managed to impress me after proper usage.

Packaging
The new L’Oreal Nude Magic Foundation comes in a rectangular glass bottle with a screw on cap. The packaging is certainly different but not exactly practical. Firstly, I prefer foundations to come with a pump dispenser and secondly there is always that risk of breakage when it comes to glass bottles. I almost always end up taking out more foundation than required as it is so runny. The product also tends to gather around the opening and looks untidy as I really do not have the time to clean it from time to time though to be honest I’m just plain lazy 😉

Texture
Like I mentioned, the L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Foundation is very light and runny in consistency. As claimed, it is supposed to turn into powder which made me all the more curious as I wouldn’t want the product to transform into powder while I apply it as that would make blending such a chore. Luckily, the application is super easy as the formula is silky and transforms into powder after a few minutes of application.

Finish
As suggested by L’Oreal, its best to to apply the liquid powder foundation by hand as a sponge or brush would soak up too much of product. I usually never get the perfect finish when I apply foundations by hand but these sort of runny foundations work best when applied with hands. They sure weren’t kidding when they claimed it to be like second skin as the foundation feels extremely natural and adds a healthy glow to my face. I expected it to be quite matte but it is more satin or semi matte in finish.

I have combination skin and I never apply foundations without a moisturizer hence this does not feel drying. Dry skinned beauties would definitely require a heavy duty moisturizer to make this work especially in winters otherwise this will settle down into dry patches. I notice a bit of shine after 2-3 hours but I quite like it, it looks healthy than say oily. I do not powder my face when I apply this because well it is liquid powder so I don’t need it, right?

Shade
Though I was matched to 318 Natural Buff in L’Oreal Magic Nude Foundation but I ultimately got 320 Natural Beige which is a wee bit dark for me but adapts to my skintone. It blends seamlessly and does not oxidize. It has a yellow undertone and is perfect for fair to medium skintone. You can check all the swatches of L’Oreal Magic Nude Foundations here. The shade selection is pretty decent and majority of the Indian women will find a good match.

Coverage & Staying Power
The L’Oreal Foundation provides sheer to medium coverage and is perfect for a daily wear foundation. A single application evens out the skintone and hides minor flaws. You’ll certainly need a dab of concealer for hiding dark circles or blemishes. Usually many of us do not prefer wearing high coverage foundations for daily wear and those beauties are bound to love this one. As for the staying power, I get a wear time of about 5-6 hours which is pretty decent. I haven’t had the chance to test this in summers but I have a feeling the staying power would probably be less.

While I wasn’t so impressed with the range when I swatched them at the store since it felt too dry but I must admit I had quite a different experience when I finally used it. The price felt a wee bit steep at first but you only need a pea sized amount hence one bottle would last you a good amount of time.

3) The range has a decent amount of shades with neutral and yellow undertone and will suit the warm complexion well.

1) Not suitable for dry skin
2) Glass bottle isn’t exactly travel friendly
3) The staying power could’ve been better
