Lotus Herbals Purestay Eye Contour Definer Royal Orchid Eye Pencil Review, Swatches & Price
Hello Girls,
I have always loved using colored eyeliners as it adds a pop of color without looking too made up. I still remember how crazy I used to be about colored eye pencils when I was in my teens and they well and truly started my love affair with makeup. Today, I shall be reviewing quite a unique color from Lotus Herbals Purestay Eye Contour Definer Range called Royal Orchid.
Lotus Herbals Purestay Eye Contour Definer comes in 4 shades
- Emerald
- Black Pearl
- Opal
- Royal Orchid
Price: Rs 500
Quantity: 1.5 gms
Can be bought online at Flipkart
Packaging
The Lotus Eye Contour Definer Colored Eye Pencils come in a color coded sharpenable pencil form with a plastic cap. These are not retractable pencils hence need to be sharpened after every 2 uses which does lead to a bit of wastage. Considering the price I was expecting them to be have the twist up mechanism but sadly Lotus let me down on this aspect. However, the eye pencil is easily identifiable and is travel friendly as the cap shuts tightly and will not come off in your handbag.
Shade
Lotus Purestay Eye Contour Definer in Royal Orchid is a beautiful and vibrant purple-orchid color which contains fine silver shimmer. The color is a bit cool toned but looks great on the eyes. I personally haven’t come across such a shade before and I quite like it. Thankfully the shimmer is quite subtle and does not look OTT.
Texture
The Lotus Purestay Colored Eye Pencils have an extremely smooth and buttery texture. They glide easily onto the eyes and I do not need to pull or tug for an even application. Since this range contains fine shimmer I was a bit worried if it would travel all over my face or worse get into my eyes but luckily it does not budge at all. I love the fact that the shimmer does not look OTT and just adds a certain freshness to my eyes.
Pigmentation
Lotus Eye Contour Definer Royal Orchid gives an average color pay off. You need to swipe it atleast twice for it to show up well on the eye lids. I have tried other shades from the range and they are extremely pigmented hence I was bit disappointed with the color pay off. I have quite dark lids and I had to swipe it atleast 2-3 times for the EOTD.
Staying Power
It definitely makes up in the wear time for what it lacks in the pigmentation department. Once set the Lotus Eyepencil is completely smudge and waterproof. It does not smudge even when I accidentally rub my eyes. Though I do not have oily lids but I’ve read the pencil performs well even then so this will be a boon for those who are tired of their colored eyepencils /liners smudging after a few hours.
Pros
1) A beautiful orchid-purple shade which is quite unique and not available in other brands
2) Soft and creamy texture
3) Applies easily onto the eye lids and does not tug
4) Smudgeproof and waterproof
5) The staying power is quite impressive
Cons
1) Not highly pigmented and needs 2-3 swipes to show up properly
2) Needs to be sharpened which leads to product wastage
3) Pretty expensive!
HBM Rating
HBM Recommendation: Lotus Purestay Eye Contour Definer ‘Royal Orchid’ is a beautiful purple-orchid color which I haven’t seen in any other brand. While it has a smooth texture and superb staying power I’m not too happy about the pigmentation and the price! I only recommend it if you’re crazy about the shade and want it in your kitty otherwise there are better options available in the market.
