I’m back with a swatch post after what feels like ages but it feels good to slowly get back to my beauty blogging routine 😀 Its always exciting when a brand launches a new range and I’m going to try and regularly swatch them. Last year the rage was all about chubby sticks and this year it seems to be liquid lipsticks, matte liquid lipsticks to be specific. Maybelline recently launched their Velvet Matte Lipsticks in 8 beautiful shades and I’ll be swatching their entire range today.

The Maybelline Velvet Matte Lipsticks are similar to the Maybelline Lip Polishes when ot comes to the packaging. However, instead of the silver caps, these have a matte black top., The packaging is see through thus aiding identification. Now moving on to the Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick swatches!

MAT 1: This is a bright, slightly neon pink lipcolor which isn’t pale or too blue based.
MAT 2: A peachier version of MAT 1, this is suitable for fair and light complexions.
MAT 5: This is a warm and bright orange which would suit the Indian complexion really well.
MAT 6: Perfect for fall, this berry plum is well pigmented and would flatter all skintones

MAT 8: A deep tomato red, this will a be a hot favorite amongst bold lip lovers.
MAT 9: Another beautiful red however this was slightly less pigmented compared to Maybelline Velvet Matte Lipstick in Mat 8
MAT 10: This beautiful purple- pink is a close dupe of MAC Flat Out Fabulous Lipstick.
MAT 11: A deep red lip color which is richly pigmented

A curious case of the missing numbers, I didn’t understand why Maybelline didn’t number them accordingly. Besides that, I wished they had also introduced MAT 12 in India which is a beautiful neutral nude and would’ve completed the color range.

Texture wise, the new Maybelline Velvet Matte Lipsticks are creamy and hydrating. I got MAT 1 and these don’t really settle down into a matte finish. It almost feels like a gloss but I have only worn it once so I’ll give it more time before forming an opinion on it. Most of the shades are well pigmented and easily buildable. Maybelline always gets their pricing bang on point making it worth a try!
