Vege-Licious Extravaganza OF The World at Ssence Review, Prices & Pictures
Hello Everyone,
I was recently invited to try out the VegeLicious Extravaganza at Ssence, New Delhi. Being a vegetarian (by choice!) I was very enthusiastic about the tasting and was looking forward to checking out the delicacies. I have visited Ssence Restaurant before(check here) and had a wonderful lunch along with the most sinful desserts hence my expectations were quite high this time around.
The Vege-licious Extravaganza aims to change the notion that vegetarian dishes are boring and predictable. It not only comprises of dishes from different parts of India but from the world over. The extravaganza has a buffet which includes Iyer Brahmin food from South of India, Saraswat Brahmin food from Western India and Saatwik food from North India besides the deletable continental dishes.
I started off with veg starters which included Quinoa Salad, Waldorf Salad, Pita Bread with Hummus, Dahi Bhalla and a very attractive looking Mixed Fruit Skewer With Mango Shooter. Everything tasted absolutely divine but the Quinoa Salad & the Mango Shooter which had a certain tanginess and spiciness totally won me over.
Moving on to the main course, I decided to try out some of the South Indian dishes despite having a not so experimental palette. Being a punjabi I surely couldn’t resist Paneer Makhani which was absolute PERFECTION and was finger licking good. I surprisingly also liked the Carrot and Beans Poriyal and Caponate Pie with Tangy Pumpkin Cream which was fresh and light.
The coconut flavour in the carrot and beans poriyal was light and not overpowering unlike many South Indian dishes I’ve had in Delhi. As for Indian breads, I chose a garlic butter naan which despite being full had me lemming for the second piece.
Next, I tried the continental dishes which included the Vegetarian Hakka Noodles, Mushroom Ragout with Sun Dried Tomato along with Assorted Vegetables in Chilly Garlic Sauce. The flavours were bang on, not bland unlike most continental dishes I’ve tried and impressed me to the hilt. I wish I had space for more as I really liked the dishes.
Coming to my favorite part- the desserts. I tried the New York Cheesecake, Dragon fruit Tart & Raspberry Panna Cotta. Even if you ask me to choose a favorite at gunpoint, I cant as I loved each dessert equally. Sinful and divine would define them well and I strongly recommend checking out the huge and delectable variety of desserts at Ssence, The Suryaa Hotel.
In short, The Vege-Licious Extravaganza offers a wide range of vegetarian dishes with an added twist ensure a nutritious journey around the world. Hog on to guilt free plates with delicious temple cuisines and deepen your love for vegetarian food with exotic offerings by Ssence.
