Hello Everyone,
ZA is an affordable brand launched by Shiseido in India a few months back and I have been using their products for quite awhile. Today, I’m going to review the ZA Day Protector that I have been loving alot these days and is one of those rare sunscreens that wear well under foundation.

Packaging
The ZA Day Protector comes in a tiny white tube which is packaged in a plastic casing. It has a small nozzle that helps in controlling the amount of product to be dispensed. The packaging mentions all the necessary details like the list of ingredients, date of expiry, claims etc and is quite travel friendly.
Texture
It has a lotion like consistency which applies easily onto the skin. Like any other sunscreen, it requires a wee bit of effort to blend but once absorbed the ZA Day Protector feels quite lightweight and gives a semi-matte finish. I wouldn’t say its completely matte but it does not make my face oily.
I find that the ZA True White Day Protector adequately moisturizes my skin but dry skinned beauties might require more hydration. It is perfect for normal to combi skin and those with oily skin type might need a dab of compact for a completely matte finish. I like the fact that it wears well under foundation and does not ball up like the other sunscreens. It gives a slight whitish cast which settles down after a few minutes but I’m not sure if it will work well for dusky women.
Efficacy
As a sunscreen I feel it lacks in sun protection as SPF 26 is definitely not adequate for the Indian summers. I find it a hassle to use a separate sunscreen on top of this for decent sun protection and would’ve preferred a higher SPF.
It claims to lighten dark spots as well as acne marks and though I do not suffer from much pigmentation on the face but I haven’t noticed any difference in the discoloration around the chin.
Pros
1) Lightweight texture which absorbs well
2) Did not make my face oily
3) Adequately moisturizes normal to oily skin
4) Wears well under foundation
5) Perfect for normal to combi skintype
6) Travel friendly packaging
Cons
1) Might be a wee bit heavy for oily skin(though nothing that a compact can’t take care of)
2) SPF 26 is too low for adequate sun protection
3) I did not notice any lightening of dark spots as claimed
HBM Rating:
HBM Recommendation: ZA True White Day Protector is a lightweight sunscreen with a lotion like consistency and is perfect for normal to combination skin type. It will work well for those with oily skin as well but they might need a dab of loose powder. It is perfect for use under foundation but I would have liked it much more had it provided higher sun protection.
